Old Head Caught Collapsing

1986

Photographs can freeze the fastest of actions. This is an attempt to create a three-dimensional version of a frozen moment in time.

An old head is stacked up like a house of cards. As its delicate balance is destroyed and it starts to collapse the moment is frozen.

The structure appears to defy gravity and it is possible to walk around it observing all the details of the old man’s shocked expression.

As with all photographic imagery, we can only guess at the events before and after this particular three-dimensional slice of time.
